The management of Bayero University Kano (BUK) has prohibited the unauthorized use of the University’s name, acronym, and official logo on social media platforms.
The directive was issued following concerns that some individuals and groups have been using the University’s identity to mislead students, prospective applicants, and members of the public.
According to the University, no individual, association, or organization is permitted to use “Bayero University Kano,” “BUK,” or the University’s official logo on any social media page without obtaining prior written approval from the appropriate authorities.
The management also directed anyone currently operating social media pages with the University’s name or logo without authorization to remove them immediately.
However, the University clarified that students and staff are free to operate their personal social media accounts using their real names or preferred identities, provided they do not create the impression that they are officially representing BUK.
BUK advised students, applicants, and the general public to obtain information only from the University’s official website and verified social media channels to avoid falling victim to false or misleading information.
The University further warned that anyone found violating the directive may face disciplinary action in line with applicable laws and University regulations.
